Ross Ritchell (MA, University of Alabama; MFA, Northwestern University)
Ross Ritchell is a doctoral student in the Department of Communication and Information Sciences at the University of Alabama.
After dropping out of college after his freshman year at the University of Arizona, Ross enlisted in the United States Army, where he served in the 75th Ranger Regiment. After deploying to Iraq in 2007, Ross left the Army with hearing loss, opting to continue his education in lieu of working outside his preferred capacity as an infantryman. He obtained a BBA in Marketing from Loyola University Chicago, an MFA in Fiction Writing from Northwestern University, and an MA in Journalism from the University of Alabama. A lifelong athlete and champion of the underdog, he aims to study the impact of interpersonal communication on self-efficacy, resilience, capability, and belonging, as well as improve lives with mental-health communication scholarship.
